Announcements – August 2020
We are now in the final month of the UDUK Season so we have some housekeeping to do and some details on how the next season will start.
Player Registration Data Deletion
In accordance with UDUK’s data protection statement and in complience with Data Protection Laws. By the end of August we will be deleting all personal data held on registered players gathered during the 19/20 Season. Therefore it will be necessary for continuing students to register for the 20/21 season. Also alumni will have to reregister for any alumni inclusive events.
We do realise that re-registering is a minor inconvenience and we will look at a system in the future that may make it easier for players. However for now this is the best and easiest way for us to comply with all Data Protection Laws.
Infomation and instructions for registereing for the 20/21 Season will become available next month as September marks the official start of the new season.
If you are having problems with venues for the coming season then please let us know and we will do what we can to help. We are currently helping universities in Sheffield deal with the closure of the Rileys there due to the pandemic and their relocation to a new home venue. We reconise that their may be other clubs that have issues with venues disappearing and having to find a new home. We can try to help you organise this if you would like, Just drop us a messege and we will see what we can do.
UDUK Membership for 20/21 Season
Presidents will soon be able to register their club/society with UDUK for the season and make intentions for league teams known. More infomation on this will be communicated to the presidents directly.
Leagues in 20/21 Season
We are currently still at the position of delaying the start of leagues until January but will re-examine this as more infomation becomes available and if it becomes practical to start sooner we will investigate the possibility.
We will be looking to make some changes to the way the leagues run but they will mostly stay very simalar in terms of logistics. We hope to have some infomation to release in the next month or so but we have some things to sort out first. Infomation will be announced as soon as we have something concrete.
Events in 20/21 Season
We currently cannot plan for events at specific times due to there being many unknowns however please know that we are in constant communication with venues and re-evaluateing what is and what is not possible. Events will return as soon we can do them in a safe manner.
New Presidents/Chairpersons of clubs/societies
We now have infomation about new club presidents from most universities but not all. So if you have become the head of a club but havent been in contact then please do reach out. This also applies to any new university teams that have not been in contact with UDUK before, we would love to have you on board.
These are stressful and trying timings for everyone, Through the wonders of technology we are still able to talk to each other and some of us even play the sport we love, However if you are stuggling then please remember that most university welfare teams are still running and you can reach out to them to talk. If you want to speak to someone outside of the university networks then there is also the Samaritans who can be reached on 116 123.
