University Darts UK (UDUK) are pleased to announce a new addition to our charity partnerships for the upcoming year!
As well as continuing our work with Chasing the Stigma, the mental health charity that UDUK have supported since 2017, we will also be supporting Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK).
A partnership with PCUK seemed obvious given the existing links between the charity and the darts community. In 2016, Tracey Fletcher began fundraising for Team Darts in partnership with PCUK and soon after that an official partnership with the BDO was established. Aided by the support of players like Martin Adams, who himself was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in March 2016, the partnership has gone from strength to strength. Professional players can be seen wearing the pin badges at televised majors and the darting community is firmly behind the charity.
The target for fundraising is £501,000 and the target is well on the way to being met, and exceeded, with the total currently standing at over £301,000. Through selling specially produced PCUK darts shirts and pin badges, UDUK hopes to increase the funds raised towards helping those with Prostate Cancer and ultimately finding a cure.
Our partnership follows an announcement by our long-standing supporters the British Disability Darts Association (BDDA), who have also chosen to raise money for PCUK. Our Disability Darts Ambassador, Phil Lees, will provide support for PCUK in his capacity as a player in the BDDA and ambassador for UDUK.
Exciting times lay ahead for UDUK as we extend our charitable relationships and get further involved with the wider darts community. UDUK look forward to supporting the following charitable organisations across the following year:
- Prostate Cancer UK
- Chasing the Stigma
- British Disability Darts Association
