Last time, we gave you the rundown to the last stages of the UDUK league season. Since then, two league campaigns have wrapped up and two regional champions officially crowned. So here’s an update: North West – Lancaster had already sealed their North West league title before playing Liverpool on the last day of the season, but they went out in style with a home victory against Edge Hill on 15 March. Game difference also sealed third place for Lancaster Bs, who just pipped Liverpool As to the post with both level on 8 points. Lancaster President and As captain Shaun Liddle told me, “It has been a great season for us at Lancaster. We have had wins over our great B team, Bangor, Liverpool and Edge Hill Universities who all had fantastic teams, so it is a real credit to the players from our team to top this highly contested league.” “Will Harris and Louie Everitt have offered great stability to the team and are a pivotal reason for our success. The standout player for our team is the mighty Dan Horrocks, who narrowly missed out on UDUK history in March by <a href=\"https://twitter.com/UDUKOfficial/status/1633820839845003267\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">missing double 12 for a 9 darter</a>. He is a great player and will achieve a lot within the sport, so it has been a pleasure to captain him, along with Louie and Will.” “Shout out to Jacob Bresnen who made his debut in the last game of the season. It has been a wonderful season for us here at Lancaster, and the title that we have won is deserved for the hard work and dedication put in by our players.” Unfortunately, Lancaster will be unable to compete in our National Finals on 23 April, so second-place Bangor will be taking up their spot and hoping to do the North West justice. Midlands – the Midlands region went right down to the last day, with Warwick and Trent vying it out on the 15 March to decide who would be crowned region champion. And in the end it was Warwick who came out on top, snatching the Midlands crown from their opponents. Warwick sealed the deal with a 10-1 rout of Trent Bs and a 7-4 victory over Trent As, securing a title that they had put a marker down on with a home defeat of Trent back in December. President and As captain Anthony Joseph said, “Having been relative newcomers to the UDUK circuit, it has taken a few years for Warwick Darts to settle in. But I am proud that this year, we have been able to topple the Midlands.” “The combination of ‘experienced’ campaigners and budding freshers coupled with plenty of competition for spaces (with Warwick Bs’ outstanding season important to note) meant that this year Warwick As have been able to consistently land big blows.
