A <a href=\"https://www.uduk.co.uk/hall-of-fame\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">very exclusive club</a> of just 11 members exists to recognise those who fall into one of 3 categories: • Special Recognition for Outstanding Achievement• Special Recognition for Outstanding Contribution• Pillars of the Community These are some of the biggest legends and contributors to organised university darts, over its 15+ year lifespan. We felt it was important to continue recognising those who have gone above and beyond, either in spectacular darting standards, or in their efforts and contributions to UDUK and the wider university darts scene. Therefore, the UDUK committee are delighted to induct two new members to the UDUK Hall of Fame. Michael Kelly – Former UDUK President (2019 – 2022) Michael Kelly, or MK as he is better known in university darts circles, was a stalwart of university darts throughout his time at the University of York. Initially helping substantially in the running of enormous events such as the UDUK Big Weekender, alongside his societal efforts, MK took on the role of UDUK President in Summer 2019. What nobody anticipated, was that a global pandemic would quickly strike at the heart of what promised to be a presidency of grand expansion and growth of the university darts scene. Nevertheless, MK’s efforts were a big part in keeping the scene alive, despite over a year of webcam darts, and meant that there was a slither of something to return to once doors to darts venues reopened. A partial return in the 2021/2022 to university darts followed, with some leagues returning and the staging of the UDUK Northern Singles and league finals day events. Following the end of the season, MK decided to step aside and following a smooth transition to this year’s committee, he is still more than willing on occasion to provide advice and help to the university darts scene and to UDUK. He is truly deserving of a place in the UDUK Hall of Fame with Special Recognition for Outstanding Contribution, joining former UDUK / university darts presidents Harley Wilkes and Simon Rimington. Woody Boon – Uni of Birmingham Darts Founder (2021-2023)&nbsp; Woody Boon is responsible for founding the University of Birmingham Darts Society, a collective which is quickly gaining traction as a leading example of a darts society. Having been a relatively small society when starting, his efforts ensured that Birmingham quickly became a society that people were talking about. Not only was he responsible for seeing the club through to their second year of participating in UDUK events, despite a number of key players and members graduating, but he drove the exponential growth of Birmingham throughout the 2022/2023 season. Birmingham later went on to become an award winning society, as pictured above. He also was massively involved in the organisation and staging of a huge successful inaugural staging of the Birmingham v Warwick varsity match. Beyond his efforts at Birmingham, Woody is talked of in the highest regard by all those who have met him. When discussing candidates for the UDUK Hall of Fame, Woody was virtually the first name on everyone’s lips in the committee. A figure who is always professional, always respectful and always a pleasure, even in the rambunctious cauldron of university darts at times, is someone who is more than deserving of a place in the UDUK Hall of Fame as a Pillar of the Community.
