Oxford's Musa Ali and Gloucestershire's Bronwyn Flook retained their Cotswolds Classic titles in Cheltenham this evening.

The pair, who won the main and women's events respectively back in February, were part of a 24-strong field at the University of Gloucestershire's Students' Union.

Ali was one of four players, along with Callum Kiteley, Oliver Allenby and Adam Souter, to come through the group stage with a perfect record.

He then dropped only one leg on route to the final, defeating Matthew Ainge and Kiteley to tee up a clash with Bristol's Jacob Moss.

And when Moss raced into a 3-0 lead, it looked as if the Classic title would be prised from his hands.

It was not to be however, as he came back to win 5-3, nailing two maximums and scoring an impressive 71 average.

Meanwhile, Flook defeated Grace McKenna (also of Gloucestershire) to retain the women's Cotswolds Classic win.

A solid 3-1 victory was enough to get Flook over the line, in a match which featured a pair of crucial two-shot finishes.

Commenting on the day's play, Southern Coordinator Patrick Loveard said: “It was fantastic to bring the Cotswolds Classic back to Cheltenham and host it for a second year in a row."

"There was a clear improvement in standard since last year with many impressive performances. It was really nice to see so many familiar faces in the same place and we hope to host again soon.”

Next week will see UDUK league action continue, with more singles action to follow in the course of the autumn term.
