In a final of fantastic quality, Aidan Sutherland defeated Janek Hill 6-1 to win the Scottish Masters.

Held in Falkirk, the event included a field of 9, attracting some of the top talent in the UDUK system.

Sutherland and Hill emerged from the first round group stage with identical records, each winning 7 games to only 1 defeat.

Placing in opposite sides of the knockout draw, the pair seemed destined to face off in Saturday's final, and spared just 3 legs between them in a best-of-9 semi-final, defeating Daniel Barclay and Matthew Green (Stirling) respectively.

The form guide may well have suggested the final would be a close affair, and whilst the pair traded averages of 72, it ended in a comfortable victory for Sutherland.

The Dundee student knocked in 6 140s en route, as well as a ton-plus checkout of 103, proving too much in the end for the University of Leicester's Hill.

In winning, Sutherland retains the Scottish singles title he won last year in Rutherglen, Glasgow.

Speaking after the event, Scottish Coordinator Daniel Barclay said: "The Scottish Masters was a very high quality day of darts, with lots of highly competitive games and a very tight group stage."

Focus will now switch to the Yorkshire Classic, taking place at the New Moorside Club in Leeds. Tickets remain available.
